The incision will heal in about a week, but the operation on the inside will take a bit longer. As a result, it will take around three months.
There are three different forms of hysterectomy surgery.
1. Partial Hysterectomy: This procedure removes only a portion of the uterus while leaving the cervix intact.
2. Total Hysterectomy: The uterus and cervix are both removed.
3. Hysterectomy and Salpingo-Oophorectomy: This hysterectomy is combined with a Salpingo-Oophorectomy, in which the uterus, one or both ovaries, and the fallopian tubes are removed by the surgeon.
In most circumstances, you'll be cleared for sexual activity four to six weeks after surgery. This gives your incisions adequate time to heal and any vaginal bleeding or discharge to halt. The majority of women agree that sex is the same for them. If you had painful intercourse before your surgery, it will most likely feel better afterward. Let your doctor know if you have any discomfort or blood during sex.
Menopause is not triggered by removing merely your uterus. You will continue to ovulate, but you will not have a period or be able to conceive. If your ovaries are also removed, you will stop ovulating and enter menopause.
Your bladder should not be affected by a hysterectomy in the long run. Bladder spasms are common in the first few weeks after surgery, although they usually go away with time. If you suffer from unpleasant spasms, your doctor may prescribe pain medication.
