Procedure

The procedusre that needs to be followed during MRI Scan

  • You will be lying down on a table with a section of your body exposed for the scan
  • The sonographer will apply a special lubricating jelly on the skin and rub the transducer
  • As the transducer moves, picture of the internal organ is projected on the monitor
  • The scan usually lasts for 10-15 minutes and does not involve any pain

A. Ultrasounds are usually performed externally, on the outside of the body. The movement of a small transducer on your body and the temperature of the translucent gel are the only sensations during the scan, which means that pain is nonexistent.

A. No, there are no side effects associated with an ultrasound scan. It is a simple, non- invasive scan which does not even cause pain.

A. Results will not be available immediately after the scan. A radiologist will interpret the images and write a report based on what they see. You will then receive your results within 12 hours of the scan.
