Delhi High court ordered Govt hospitals to treat patients irrespective of residence and that they cannot deny treatments or any hospital service to the outsiders.
“People with Delhi voter ID cards were privileged with quick treatments and services while non Delhiites need to stand in long queues and given month-long dates to get a doctor” claimed petitioner.
In response to the petitioner’s claim, the Delhi government counsel investigated and cleared that there was no evidence that petitioner was asked for the voter ID and they added that MRI examination dates were provided according to the availability of vacant slots. Satyakam informed the court that the date of the petitioner’s knee MRI is 26th December.
Justice Pratibha M Singh, after hearing the petition regarding Lok Nayak Hospital, declared that hospitals cannot be partial on any hospital services or treatments among Delhiites and outsiders.
