This year’s presidency of the Group of Twenty (G20) is held by India. The health track will comprise four health working group meetings and one ministerial health meeting. India’s first G20 presidents will be held in Kerala from 18 January to 20 January.
Out of 19 countries that come under the Group of 20 (G20) premier forum for international economic cooperation, India has been selected to hold the Presidency of the G20 from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023.
In response to this, India will host four HWG meetings and one Health Ministerial Meeting (HMM). In addition to this, the center has also decided to host engaging events to supplement, enrich and support G20 discussions. These events will focus on matters related to digital health and Medical Value Travel (MVT). There will be research-based workshops centered on but not limited to, research findings in the fields of medical diagnostics, drugs, and vaccines.
India has prioritized three factors to work on during the G20 health track; these include, Antimicrobial resistance prevention, preparedness, and response; strengthening the pharmaceutical sector for safe, effective, quality, and affordable medical countermeasures; and digital health innovations for the growth of health care service delivery.
