According to the World Health Organization, over 5 billion people are registered for heart related problems due to high consumption of trans fats. Recently on Monday, 23rd January WHO said that people are still unprotected with the toxicity of the trans fats produced in food industries.

In 2018, WHO issued an appeal to different nations to eliminate toxic trans fats by 2023, in response to the 500,000 premature deaths caused due to high intake of trans fats.

Packaged foods are often prepared using trans fats that clog up blood vessels near the heart. This clogging directly leads to various cardiovascular problems and heart attacks.

9 out of 16 countries with high heart mortality rate were found careless in implementing best-practice policies.
